Slant-bed turning centres
Two-axis chuckers and bar machines, with or without live tooling and a Y-axis.
Lathes and turning centres
Slant-bed turning centres, twin-spindle and live-tool machines, Swiss-types, toolroom lathes and VTLs. Bar feeder and all, running or not, as long as the lathe is over 1 ton.
Picking up across Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley and the Sea-to-Sky, from Squamish and Pemberton down to Chilliwack.
Min1 ton
1 ton is 2,000 lb, about 907 kg. Benchtop mills, desktop routers and hobby lasers usually come in lighter, so we can't take them. Not sure about yours? Here's how to check.

WaitingLathes we buy
From two-axis chuckers to full mill-turn machines, and from Swiss-types running bar stock all night to big-bore lathes for pipe work.

Two-axis chuckers and bar machines, with or without live tooling and a Y-axis.
Main and sub-spindle machines that finish a part in one cycle.
Sliding-headstock machines, with or without the guide bushing in use.
Turning centres with a B-axis milling head and a tool magazine.
Simpler machines for one-offs and short runs. The smaller ones need a weight check.
Pipe and oil-country lathes and vertical turning lathes. Send the swing and the bed length or table size.
Photos
A handful of clear photos covers most of what we'd ask on the phone.
Before pickup
Lathes are long, low and heavy at the headstock end. These steps keep everything where it should be on the trailer.
Home the turret and move the tailstock to the position the manual gives for shipping.
Pull any bar stock out of the bar feeder and the spindle liner.
Have your electrician disconnect the lathe and the bar feeder and make the supply safe.
Drain the coolant tank and the hydraulic unit, or cap the lines if the manual says to.
Uncouple the bar feeder from the lathe so the two can be moved separately.
Bar feeders and extras
Bar feeders, chip conveyors and parts catchers make a lathe worth more, so list them when you send the details. We take the bar feeder with the lathe. It's a separate piece on the trailer, which is why we ask about it up front.
Spare chucks, collet systems, soft jaws and turret blocks can go in a crate with the machine.
Where we pick up
We pick up turning centres from Burnaby's Big Bend, Richmond, Tilbury and Annacis Island in Delta, Surrey and Langley, east through Maple Ridge, Mission, Abbotsford and Chilliwack, and north to Squamish, Whistler and Pemberton.

Questions
Yes, together with the lathe. Send a photo of the bar feeder's own nameplate so we know the model and bar capacity. We don't buy bar feeders by themselves.
Yes. Crashed turrets and tired spindles come with the territory on lathes. Tell us what happened and whether the control alarms out, and we'll price it as it sits.
Yes. Most sliding-headstock machines are comfortably over 1 ton. Let us know if it runs with or without the guide bushing and whether it has a sub-spindle.
No. An older machine with a working control can still be worth selling. Give us the year, the control model and how it's been running lately.
Leave the chuck on the spindle and the turret tooling in place if you're including it. Loose chucks, collet systems and spare blocks can go in a box with the machine.
Call with the make, model and whether it runs. Have a bar feeder too? Mention it on the call.
